How Does HCP Position the Assessments with Managers?
Jim Bland: “We use the assessment to better assess how we’re going to work with the executive. So the way we position this is, very early on in the deal process we discuss how the assessments will help inform how HCP will best interact with the executive in the future. For example, if we understand how the individual is motivated, that could help us create certain incentive plans that would be very motivational to the executive. We ask them to be very honest because the best way to maximize the assessment, the tool, is by being open and candid, and we also tell them that the tool isn’t going to be used against them in any way; it really is an opportunity for us to understand better who we’re partnering with.”
